About ME

Gary “Bushy” Lennis

Bushy is an Aboriginal artist, environmental educator, and former Ranger whose creative practice is deeply rooted in ecology and Country. After sustaining severe injuries while working on the frontlines of a bushfire, he returned to art during recovery — turning creativity into a powerful way to continue educating and protecting the environment.

His work focuses on often-overlooked creatures — bees, dragonflies, insects and more — reminding us that even the smallest lifeforms play an irreplaceable role in sustaining ecosystems. Caring for Country is not only an Indigenous responsibility, but a shared Australian duty.
